UP Government reaches out to Indian Diaspora like never before PBD:2015 – UP Session concludes
Large number of NRIs take part in UP Session, show interest to invest
The Uttar Pradesh Vocational Education and Skill Development State Minister Mr. Abhishek Mishra at Gandhi Nagar (Gujrat) today apprised the NRIs of the message of the UP Chief Minister, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav at the UP Session during the PBD 2015 celebrations. Giving the message of the CM, he said that the State Government want to strengthen the ties with the NRIs who have written stories of success at every corner of the globe.
Outlining State government’s vision for engagement with NRIs, he said that the State Government wants to integrate with societies and economies through cross-border flow of ideas, communication, technology, capital, people, finance, goods, services and information. Highlighting the new trend of altruism by NRIs, he said that today the face of charity has changed to philanthropy and a new generation of social entrepreneurs has emerged that are transforming lives of millions through innovations.
Listing out a series of mega infrastructure project underway in Uttar Pradesh, the Minister said that state is in the process of creating world-class infrastructure with International airports coming at Agra and Kushinagar, Metro Project in Lucknow, Noida and Greater Noida, Cycling Tracks in Lucknow and Noida, National Investment and Manufacturing Zones in Jhansi and Auraiya and Plastic City in Auraiya.
Spelling out the State’s development agenda, he said that development for UP government means just not only economic development, but also political, social and above all, human development. The State Government has taken care to distribute the fruits of development to all sections of society and was specifically implementing policies to help and assist the weaker sections, differently-abled sections and more specifically the person standing last in the queue as was the vision of both Gandhi and Lohiya ji.
The UP Chief Secretary while addressing the session said that Uttar Pradesh was state with unlimited potential and possibilities. He further elaborated upon the recent initiatives taken by state government to facilitate and foster ties with NRI’s. A separate NRI Department had also been set up to facilitate NRIs.
Prominent NRIs like Dr. BR Shetty, Dr. Nandini Tandon, Mr. Rajendre Tewari, Mr. Ashok Ram Saran and Lord Karan Bilimoria present at the session also expressed their views and said that the UP Government had been making every efforts to seek investment and emotionally connect with the diaspora.
Advisor to NRI Department Mr. Madhukar Jetley informed about the efforts being made to facilitate the NRIs. He said that the State Government had been very sensitive towards the problems of the NRIs.
The session was also addressed by the Minister of State for Power Mr. Yasar Shah who laid emphasis on the focus laid by State government in reforming power sector.
NRIs Dr. BR Shetty, Dr. Nandini Tandon, Mr. Ashok Ram Saran, Mr. Rajendre Tewari and Lord Bilimoria were presented mementos as a token of gratitude by the state government for their efforts.
The Principal Secretary NRI Department, Mr. Sanjeev Saran, Principal Secretary Power, Mr. Sanjay Agarwal, Principal Secretary Information Mr. Navneet Sahgal, Director Information Mr. Ashutosh Niranjan and other senior officers also graced the occasion.
