Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has ordered punitive action against all such officers who are ignoring people’s grievances and are careless in administrative work. Giving this information, a state government spokesman Thursday said that officers with the Chief Minister’s office had telephonically made surprise attendance checks of district magistrates and district police chiefs. In the check, 8 District Magistrates and 10 SSPs were found missing from their offices.
Under instructions of the Chief Minister these officers have been served show cause notices. He has also said that his office will continue to monitor the officers on parameters like attending to people’s problems and discharging their administrative duties properly, failing which stringent action would be initiated
The spokesman further said that the Chief Minister had long ago directed all officers to be present in their offices between 10-12 a.m. and listen to the problems faced by the people and also make prompt attempts to address them. In the wake of the surprise checks, however, some officers were found absent from their offices.
The government spokesman informed that the officers found missing from their offices during the duty hours included DMs of Gorakhpur, Etawah, Jaunpur, Bareilly, Gonda, Ballia, Mirzapur and Firozabad while the DM of Sambhal was attending some meeting. In the same way, district police chiefs of Maharajganj, Amethi, Shahjahanpur, Mahoba, Shamli, Lalitpur, Shrawasti, Unnao, Mau and Amroha were found to be absent.
