Ambassador lauds state government for initiating infrastructure projects like the Agra-Lucknow Expressway and the Lucknow Metro Rail
US Ambassador to India Mr. Richard R. Verma called on the UP Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav at his official 5, Kalidas Marg residence. During the meeting the visiting dignitary expressed desire to further strengthen and take forward bilateral relations with India, specially Uttar Pradesh and he added that many industrialists in the US were keen to invest in the state.
In this context he also sought information for US investment in key sectors. The Chief Minister told Mr. Verma that the state offers immense potential for investors and the state government had rolled out many investor friendly policies which facilitate and assist entrepreneurs. He further pointed out sectors like agriculture, agro-processing, solid wasteanagement and infrastructure development as key sectors where US investors can come to Uttar Pradesh.
Mr. Yadav also assured the US Ambassador of all possiblecooperation and support from his government. During the meeting Mr. Verma said that his country would help developing Allahabad as a smart city and that very soon a US delegation would come to the state and discuss with officials to take this forward.
Mr. Verma also sought information on priorities of the state government to which the Chief Minister said that the government was working towards improvement and strengthening of the infrastructure and industry while also taking care of the welfare of the weaker and marginalized sections of the society.
