
Almost 10,000 girl students imparted Martial Arts training
Women will have to come forward for training of Kung-Fu and Martial Arts
Chief Minister meets UP’s Kung-Fu team
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has said that the State Government was serious about the safety and security of women in the state and has initiated several steps to ensure this. Urging women to become independent, he added that the government would provide them with all possible help.
He also said that the women will have to come forward to get trained in martial arts and kung-fu. The Chief Minister was today speaking at his official residence after meeting the members of the UP Kung-Fu team. On the occasion, he distributed kits to the state’s Kung-Fu 35 team members selected through the 9th state Kung-fu competition and extended his good wishes for their success in the national championship. On this occasion, the Kung-Fu Federation President Mr. Shailesh Krishna gifted the Chief Minister a sword brought from Shaolin Temple in China.

He also handed over the Chief Minister a request letter seeking a Kung-Fu Academy in the state. The Chief Minister said that the state government had undertaken a host of initiatives to maintain safety and security for women in the state and pointed out that after the success of 1090 Women Power Line initiative the Prime Minister has been requested to implement it across the nation.
He further informed that to act against crimes and offences against women, women help lines had been established in all districts and they are being monitored by SSP’s. He also added that all colleges/universities have been directed to impart training to girl students in martial arts for selfdefence.
Mr. Yadav also expressed satisfaction that all educational institutions were working in this direction. It may be pointed out here that the 9th National Kung-Fu Championship is being organized at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad between December 29-31, 2014 in which 600 men and women sportspersons from 20 states like Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Mizoram, Jharkhand, Delhi and Maharashtra are taking part.
Member of the state Kung-Fu team Mrs. Pragya Tiwari and Mrs. Sunita Verma displayed ways to tackle the menace of eve teasing. Other than this, three year old Mrs. Sanskriti left every one present pleasantly surprised and in awe of her Kun-Fu display. Present at the event, among others were Political Pensions Minister Mr. Rajendra Chowdhary, Principal Secretary (Information) Mr. Navneet Sehgal, General Secretary of UP Kung-Fu Federation Mr. GP Tripathi, members of the Kung-Fu team and other officebearers.
