Special attention being paid to development of structural facilities
Sportspersons getting better opportunities by the Hockey India League Chief Minister enjoys the match between Uttar Pradesh Wizards and Delhi Web Riders
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has said that the state government was makings serious efforts to promote sports and many important decisions have been taken and are being executed. He further added that special attention was being paid to develop structural facilities for sports.
The Chief Minister was today talking to media persons after watching the first half of the match between the Uttar Pradesh Wizards and the Delhi Web Riders at the Guru Govind Singh College’s Dhyan Chand Stadium, being played under the Hockey India League. He also took introductions from the players of both teams.
Mr. Yadav said that hockey was the national game and Indian hockey has a rich tradition. He added that many sports have undergone change with time and hockey has also changed. Indian Hockey League is providing opportunities to more players he said and added through the league local players were getting to hone their sporting talent and the sport was getting more popular among the masses.
The Chief Minister also said that Uttar Pradesh has given many star players to the Indian hockey team, who brought fame and name to the state and the country so much so that even the hockey legend Major Dhyanchand was from UP. He also added that it was due to the efforts made by the state government that national and international competitions were being held in the state capital and other places and that this was a major step ahead in promoting sports in the state.
Also present on the occasion were Political Pensions Minister Mr. Rajendra Chowdhary and other people’s representatives, senior officers of the district and state administration, office bearers of the Hockey India League, dignitaries, media persons, sportspersons, sport lovers and spectators.
