रोडवेज बेड़े में शामिल होने वाली करीब एक करोड़ रुपये कीमत वाली चार स्कैनिया बसों का संचालन शुरू होगा। इनमें पहली बस पूर्वाह्न 11 बजे गोरखपुर के लिए रवाना होगी। इसके बाद आगरा व दिल्ली की बसें जाएंगी। स्कैनिया बसों सहित कंप्यूटरीकृत पूछताछ प्रणाली 149, समाजवादी शीतल पेयजल योजना वाटर एटीएम तथा प्रदेश में 25 नए बस अड्डों के निर्माण का शिलान्यास मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश यादव अपने आवास से मंगलवार को करेंगे।रोडवेज के जनसंपर्क अधिकारी के मुताबिक स्कैनिया बसों में अग्र्रिम बुकिंग कराने वाले मुसाफिरों को वोल्वो की भांति छूट प्रदान की जाएगी। पांच से नौ दिन पहले आरक्षण कराने पर पांच फीसद, दस से 19 दिन पूर्व आरक्षण कराने पर दस फीसद तथा 20 से 30 दिन पहले आरक्षण कराने पर 15 फीसद की छूट किराए में मिलेगी। लखनऊ से दिल्ली का किराया 1367, गोरखपुर का 711 और आगरा का किराया 922 रुपये होगा।
149 कंप्यूटरीकृत पूछताछ
रेलवे की भांति अब यात्री परिवहन निगम की कंप्यूटरीकृत पूछताछ प्रणाली 149 से बसों के आगमन-प्रस्थान तथा सीट की उपलब्धता आदि की जानकारी ले सकेंगे। अधिकारियों के मुताबिक इस सेवा के शुरू हो जाने से बस से संबंधित सारी जानकारी एक ही स्थान पर मिल जाएगी।
समाजवादी शीतल पेयजल योजना के तहत चारबाग बस अड्डे पर पहला वाटर एटीम मंगलवार से शुरू हो जाएगा। आरओ प्लांट के जरिए इससे स्मार्ट कार्ड धारकों को निश्शुल्क शीतल जल मिलेगा। जबकि सामान्य मुसाफिर को दो रुपये लीटर की दर से पानी मिलेगा।
25 नए बस अड्डे
मुख्यमंत्री प्रदेश में 25 नए बस अड्डों के निर्माण का शिलान्यास करेंगे। इसके लिए क्षेत्रों का चयन किया जा चुका है और मंगलवार के बाद से यहां पर निर्माण कार्य शुरू कर दिया जाएगा। इसमें आलमबाग का अत्याधुनिक बस अड्डा भी शामिल है।

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has said that the state government has run bus services in rural areas with a 25 per cent discount on tickets in areas where there was no means of public transport till now. The bus service titled Lohia Rural Bus Service is being liked and appreciated by the rural people, he said and lauded the State Transport Corporation while stressing on the need of its further expansion, based on the population and area of the state.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a function organised at his official residence today to inaugurate the Samajwadi Cold Water (Water ATM) scheme, 149 automated enquiry service, foundation stone laying of 25 modern bus stations to be built at a cost of Rs 14164.92 lakh and launch of the superluxury Scania air-conditioned bus service. Mr. Yadav said it was the result of the socialist thinking that commuters in the state would be provided cheap and safe drinking water, he stressed on the need of installing more and more water ATM’s at bus stations.
Water ATM’s will dispense pure potable water at Re. 1 a litre and cold drinking water at Rs 2 a litre at bus stations. The Chief Minister while pointing that good work done by officers ended up benefiting the people of the state added that work done by various department was directly benefiting the people. He mentioned the all-women public transport service run by the corporation and said that this not only adds to a sense of safety among women but would also boost their self-confidence.
Mr. Akhilesh Yadav also said that once the construction of the 25 modern bus stations, for which foundation stones are being laid today, are completed, the face of bus stations would be changed. At such bus stations, airconditioned waiting rooms for passengers, food plazas, shopping arcades, departmental stores, luggage cloak rooms and other modern amenities will also be available.
In coming days, the makeover of other bus stations would also be initiated the Chief Minister informed. While handing over the keys of the super-luxury Scania buses to Managing Director of the USRTC, Mr. Mukesh Meshram, the Chief Minister said that he hoped that in times to come the corporation would emerge as a front-ranking one in the country. In the initial phase two buses Lucknow-Delhi and one bus each for Lucknow-Agra and Lucknow-Gorakhpur will be run and they were flagged off today. It may be pointed out here that these buses are far different from normal buses plying on roads. They are installed with alcho-lock system which prevents a driver to drive in a drunken state as the ignition will not start. It has electronic brake system and an electronic tyre pressure monitoring system also works in the bus.
Other than this the buses have air-suspension to enable comfortable journey to its passengers. Launching the Dial ‘149’ – an IVRS based automatic enquiry system, the Chief Minister said UP was the first state in the country to start such a service. The Chief Minister also felicitated bus drivers – Mr. Rohit Lal, Mr. Alauddin, Mr. Ganga Prasad Verma, Mr. Prem Narayan Tiwari and Mr. Raj Mangal of the Gorakhpur division for their admirable role in rescue operations in quake-hit Nepal. Thousands of people were rescued and evacuated from Nepal in the 275 buses the state transport corporation sent to Nepal.
The rescued passengers included residents of the state, from other parts of the country and even some foreigners. The relentless and selfless yeomen service provided by these bus drivers in Nepal, a region fraught with risk in the aftermath of the earthquake, the Chief Minister said brought laurels to the state. He also said in the same way the divisional commissioner of Gorakhpur and other officers/employees should be honoured for running the relief and rescue operations in such a perfect manner.
District Magistrate of Lakhimpur Kheri, Ms. Kinjal Singh, presented a cheque of Rs 77 lakh to the Chief Ministers Relief Fund, collected and donated by the people for relief work in Nepal. On the occasion, many office bearers of the Samajwadi Party district unit were also present with the district magistrate. The Chief Minister praised their efforts in raising the fund for the quake victims.
Before this, the transport minister Mr. Durga Prasad Yadav said that the UPSRTC had initiated many good works and would also continue to work for safe and comfortable travel for the people. Principal Secretary (Transport) Mr. Arvind Singh Dev also addressed the event. Also present at the event were ministers Mr. Ahmad Hasan, Mr. Paras Nath Yadav, Mr. Rajendra Chowdhary, Mr. Manpal Singh, Mr. Ram Govind Chowdhary, Mr. Ambika Chowdhary, Mr. Mehboob Ali, Mr. Avdhesh Prasad, chief secretary Mr. Alok Ranjan, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Chairman Transport Corporation Mr. Anand Mishra, principal secretary to Chief Minister Mrs. Anita Singh and other officers.
