Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav announces Rs. 5 lakh financial aid for Mr. Heera Lal Yadav, who is running the ‘Samvedna Jagrati Abhiyaan’

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has announced a financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh to Mr. Heera Lal Yadav who has ventured on a cycle ride for harmony across the country, saving the girl child, making people aware to keep off alcohol, honour to martyrs and conserving environment. The Chief Minister lauded the ride undertaken by the cyclist and said all people involved in welfare of the society should be given full honours and respect.
The 58-year-old Mr. Heera Lal Yadav, resident of village Sidhari under Gola police station in Gorakhpur met the Chief Minister at the latter’s official residence in the state capital. Congratulating Mr. Yadav on his initiative, the Chief Minister said that he was undertaking the arduous job for many a noble causes like maintaining communal harmony, creating awareness for environment conservation and preventing female foeticide.
The Chief Minister suggested Mr. Yadav to concentrate more on Uttar Pradesh and underlined that state government was already working in the areas that Mr Yadav is spreading awareness about. He hoped that Mr. Heera Lal’s efforts would further strengthen the efforts undertaken by the state government. The Chief Minister also gifted a sapling to Mr Heera Lal.
Mr. Lal while praising the efforts of the present state government of making cycle tracks in Lucknow and other major cities of the state, added that such work should be replicated at other routes also. Mr. Yadav has a special word of praise for the chief minister for his modern approach and pointed out how construction of cycle tracks would not only increase awareness about conservation of environment but also give people an option of cheap, useful and health friendly mode of transport.
It may be pointed out here that Mr. Heera Lal Yadav began his cycle journey under the banner of ‘Samvedna Jagrati Abhiyaan’ from Jammu to Kanyakumari on February 5, 2015 and he proposes to carry on with his cycle trip till August 15, 2015. Mr. Yadav has undertaken 15 such trips and has visited places like Combodia, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. Achieving the unique feat of cycling without leaving the seat for 18 years pedals 100 km per day and has organized ‘Samvedna Jagrati Art Exhibition’ at 250 places. Mr. Heera Lal Yadav has also delivered motivational lectures in schools, colleges, jails and army cantonments.
Acknowledging his work, the South-Indian Association Society from Tamil Nadu had handed him a cheque of Rs. one lakh. He was also felicitated by former Indian’s President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
Mr. Heera Lal said his mother and his wife were the inspirations behind his mission and informed that his wife still sells vegetable outside the Dahisar railway station in Bombay Nagar. In 1981, thanks to monetary help by Mr. Ram Narayan Tripathi, went to Mumbai and struggled there to carve a niche for himself.
In between he was also hit by an ailment in 1990 but did not give up and decided to increase awareness and never looked back. Mr. Heera Lal also complimented the Chief Minister for being so grounded and humble.
