People should not pay heed to rumours Police-Administration should firmly deal with rumour mongers and maintain law and order during Eid
Police should promptly act against mischievous elements on social media

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has exhorted the people of the state to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitra with traditional fervour and gaiety and preserve the Ganga-Jamuni culture of the state while maintaining peace and brotherhood. He further said that the festival of happiness ‘Eid’ comes after the holy month of Ramzan so all of us should celebrate it with happiness and joy.

Mr. Yadav also said that Uttar Pradesh was a glowing example of communal unity, brotherhood and cultural unity and it was a land where people of all faiths lived together in harmony and peace, taking part in the happiness and sorrows of each other. Today, UP was scaling new heights of development and was progressing on the path of peace and prosperity.

The Chief Minister urged the people of all faiths and religions to enjoy the festival and not to pay heed to rumours of any sort. He also expressed hope that if anti-social elements/fascist forces misuse modern technology and the social media to spread rumours and disturb the communal harmony and peace of the state, the peace loving people of U.P. will never let them succeed in their nefarious designs.

Mr. Yadav also directed the police administration to ensure strict vigil in wake of the festival and act against all those who engage in rumour mongering. Police has also been asked to promptly crack down on people using the social media to spread rumours. Police officers have also been asked to ensure that the peace and harmony in the state is not disturbed at any cost and the festival is celebrated peacefully and with happiness.
