Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav today announced that the best sports policy in the country will be announced in Uttar Pradesh and added that this policy will provide for better job opportunities to sportspersons and get more employment. He also announced admission of 100 new ad hoc sports coaches and a hike in the honorarium being given to sports coaches.
With this, the Chief Minister added, the diet money in sports hostels at sports college will be increased and the quality of diet will also be improved and said that the coaches will also be honoured along with the sportspersons. The Chief Minister was today speaking at a function held to honour medal winners, participants in the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games 2014, Saif Games 2010, Asian Games 2006 and National Games from Uttar Pradesh, at his official 5, Kalidas Marg residence Along with this, Mr. Yadav also honoured Mr. Wahid Ali ‘Wahid (Year 2012-13) an eminent name in the literary world and Qazi Zainul Rashidin (Year 2013-14) for promoting peace and communal harmony, by the Guru Govind Singh National Integration Award, a cheque of Rs. One lakh each and a citation. The Chief Minister gave cheques of Rs. 50 lakh each (In all Rs. One crore) to Mr. Jitu Rai for winning a gold medal in shooting at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and at the Asian Games in Incheon.
He also gave cheques of Rs. 30 and 15 lakh to member of the gold medal winning Indian hockey team at Asian Games 2014 and Commonwealth games, Mr. Danish Mujtaba. Congratulating all winners and extending his best wishes, the Chief Minister said Samajwadi governments have always promoted games and sportspersons and pointed out that not only did Samajwadi government enhance sporting facilities in the state but also took adequate care to keep the honour of the sportspersons high.
Lauding the hardwork, discipline and courage of all winners and participants from UP, Mr. Yadav said despite resource crunch they has produced exemplary results. He also reiterated the commitment of his government to providing better and world class sporting facilities, training, equipments and facilities and said work was being done in this direction. Among others who were honoured by the Chief Minister, included Ms. Seema Punia, Mr. Rajiv Kumar, Ms. Swati Singh, Ms. Poonam Yadav, Mohammad Asab, Ms. Priyanka Panwar, Mr. Narsingh Yadav, Mr. Satish Kumar Yadav and Mr. Ravi Kumar. The Chief Minister also gave away cheques of Rs. 5 lakh each to 32 sportspersons from UP who participated in the CWG and Asian Games for the first time. The Chief Secretary Mr. Alok Ranjan while addressing the gathering at the function said the prize money had been enhanced and pointed out that the state government was taking serious measures to upgrade sporting facilities in the state.
Also present on the occasion were Health Minister Mr. Ahmad Hasan, Prisons Minister Mr. Balram Yadav, Political Pensions Minister Mr. Rajendra Chowdhary, MoS for Sports and Youth Welfare Mr. Fareed Mehfooz Kidwai and Mr. Ram Karan Arya, Sports Advisor Mr. Ram Vraksh Yadav, Brigadier Amol Asthana, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Partha Sarthy Sen Sharma, Sports Secretary Mr. Bhuvnesh Kumar, senior officials of the government, administrative officials, media persons, sportspersons from all over the state and sports lovers.
