
Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav laid the foundation stone of a medical college in Jaunpur on 25 September 2014. Mr. Akhilesh Yadav directed the authorities to complete the medical college before next assembly elections even if funds are sought from CM fund and Poorvanchal Vikas Nidhi.

Addressing the gathering Yadav highlighted that enhancing health and education facilities were top priorities of his government. Yadav said there should be a medical college is each division and district of the state.
“Samwjwadi Party government has always focused on improving health facilities in the state. We constructed medical colleges in Azamgarh, Kannauj and other places. We started 102 and 108 ambulances,” Yadav said adding that hundreds of MBBS seats have been increased in the state. “We have fulfilled all the promises that we made in our manifesto,” Yadav added.

He also used the occasion to take a pot shot at the Centre for not providing the allocated quota of coal and power which led to severe power crisis in Uttar Pradesh.
