Chief Minister inaugurates Lucknow Mahotsava-2014
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav today inaugurated the Lucknow Mahotsava-2014 and said that the Ganga-Jamuni culture of the city was its signature on the world map. Adding that Lucknow was famous for its brotherhood and peace, the Chief Minister said the purpose of organising the Mahotsava was to familiarize people of the rich heritage of the city.
Mr. Yadav also expressed hope that the Lucknow Mahotsava will come true to this year theme of ‘Shan-e-Awadh, Jashn-e-Lucknow’. He further said that Lucknow was known world over for its etiquettes, art, culture, food and language. Saying that Lucknow was at the centre of the Ganga-Jamuni culture, the Chief Minister said that everyone should endeavour to preserve and promote this culture.
He added that the present Samajwadi government was committed to allround development of the city and in his tenure many schemes had been undertaken to develop Lucknow as a modern city. These, he informed, included establishing of CG City, the Janeshwar Mishra Park, Cycle Tracks, IT City, IIIT, Cancer Institute, Medanta Hospital etc. Other than this, the Chief Minister said, Metro Rail was also being established in the city and work had also begun on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, which other than benefitting other districts would usher in progress for Lucknow the most.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the 13-day Lucknow Mahotsava will give healthy entertainment to the residents of Lucknow and would provide them with the opportunity of viewing handicraft items and buying them. Earlier, on reaching the Mahotsava venue, the Chief Minister lit the ceremonial inaugural lamp and inaugurated the Lucknow Mahotsava. He was also gifted a memento at the inaugural ceremony.
Food and other stalls have also been set up at the Mahotsava and many kids entertainment swings etc. have also been set up. Also present on the occasion were Political Pensions Minister Mr. Rajendra Chowdhary, Tourism Minister Mr. Om Prakash Singh, Textile & Silk Minister Mr. Shiv Kumar Beria, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Woman Welfare and Culture Mrs. Aruna Kumari Kori, Minister of State for Tourism Thakur Mool Chandra Chauhan, Divisional Commissioner of Lucknow Mr. Mahesh Gupta, District Magistrate Mr. Rajesh Shekhar and other officers of the State Government and district administration.
