For development of the state, rise in population needs to be arrested
Chief Minister flags of the awareness rally on occasion of the World Population Day
Population Stability Fortnight also inaugurated
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has said that by controlling population, the society can be made a better place to live in and added that it was crucial to educate people on important subject like population rise. It is pertinent to inform the masses that a small family was in the interest of all, he added while pointing out that for development of the state population control was a must.
The Chief Minister was speaking today at a function at his official 5, Kalidas Marg residence where he flagged off an awareness rally to mark the World Population Day and inaugurated the Population Stability Fortnight (July 11-24). The Chief Minister also launched a CD in which significance of family planning and a nuclear family is displayed. At the end of the programme the Chief Minister also launched a signature campaign wherein people of the state signed and took an oath to lead a healthy and prosperous life.
It may be pointed out here that the rally was organized by National Health Mission, Sifsa and Indian Health Action Trust (UP) and its subsidiary organizations, Unicef, WHO, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Population Service International, Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion trust, World Vision, Population Foundation of India, Parivar Seva Sansthan, Family Planning Association of India, Abt Association, Japaigo, Global Health Services, Marie Stopes India, Janani and Path Finder International, various schools, NCC nursing college students, NGO’s, health employees and officials.
People participated with great enthusiasm in the rally. Bike riders and cyclists also participated in the rally. The cycle rally was led by Mr. Rajesh Bangia, Dr. Atul Mittal and Mr. Rajaram Yadav while the motorcycle rally was led by Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava and Mr. IB Srivastava. Also present at the event were Health Minister Mr. Ahmad Hasan, Political Pensions minister Mr. Rajendra Chowdhary, Minister of State for Health and Family welfare Mr. Nitin Agarwal, Wild Life MoS Mr. Shiv Pratap Yadav, public representatives, Director Information Mr. Ashutosh Niranjan and other dignitaries.
