Chief Minister addresses Engineers’ Day function
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has said that for speedy development of the state, engineers must mould according to the changing times. Stressing on the need of modern techniques for the construction of basic facilities, the Chief Minister said by doing so maximum results could be achieved in less time.

Crediting the hard work and toil of engineers with the technological advances world over, Mr. Yadav said imagining development without engineers can never be even thought about. Mr. Akhilesh Yadav was addressing a function on Engineers Day at the Vishveshvaraiyya Auditorium held under the aegis of UP Engineers’ Association at the PWD campus. This event was held to traditionally commemorate the 154th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Vishveshvaraiyya.
Remembering the rich contribution of Mr. Vishveshvaraiyya for the society and the country, the Chief Minister said he had made unique and remarkable experiments in the fields of construction, irrigation and other sectors and underlined how the technique used by him in that time was still relevant and successful even today. In the erstwhile state of Mysore, because of Mr. Vishveshvaraiyya’s contributions that many big buildings were constructed, advance techniques were used in mining, irrigation facility was provided through dams and the development of Vrindavan garden was possible.

Not only engineering but change was sweeping almost every realm of life, the CM said and pointed out that the world was competing to achieve remarkable accomplishments based on modern techniques. And in such a situation, to propel Uttar Pradesh in the race of development, engineers will have to come forward, Mr. Yadav said and assured them of all possible help in this endeavour.
Referring to the works being done by the state government, the Chief Minister said many projects had been undertaken to improve infrastructure, build roads, bridges and improve the power scenario. While all district headquarters were being linked with four lanes, he said the construction of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway would make a big qualitative difference and boost the economic development of both the state and the country. He also urged the engineers to work out ways to minimize the losses incurred due to floods.
The Chief Minister also said that he hoped that engineers in the state would work on the rich ideals set by Mr. Vishveshvaraiyya and contribute in the progress of the state. Mr. Akhilesh Yadav also released a souvenir on the life of Mr. Vishveshvaraiyya. Speaking at the function, Political Pension Minister Mr. Rajendra Chowdhary said that engineers will have to find solutions to manmade challenges.
The event was also addressed by Principal Secretary PWD Mr. Rajneesh Dubey, UP Engineers’ Association President Mr. Sitaram Soni, Mr. Kaptan Singh and Mr. RN Saxena. Also present on the occasion were Engineer-in-Chief Mrs. Chitra Swaroop, engineers from various departments and retired engineers.
