Chief Minister announces tax free status for film ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ in the state

Both film cities will be made at a cost of Rs. 650 crore and give employment to 9,000 people
Shooting of Mahesh Bhatt’s next Film to be done in UP
Eminent Film Producer-Director Mr. Mahesh Bhatt and actor Mr. Imraan Hashmi call on Chief Minister Mr Akhilesh Yadav at his official residence today. During the meeting Mr. Bhatt requested his new release ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ to be made tax free in the state. He informed Mr. Yadav that the film portrays the conflict in a woman’s heart and her subsequent empowerment.
The Chief Minister declared the film tax free in the state thereafter and said that with a view of the point of film making, Uttar Pradesh was a beautiful place. He further detailed the efforts of the state government to make the film policy more attractive and easy, as a result of which film related activities have picked up in the state. At present, Mr. Yadav informed, shooting of more than 30 films was taking place in the state and many a films had been shot in the state in the last three years and added that many more proposals for shooting in UP were coming. Mr. Yadav also assured the visiting film personalities that the state government would extend all cooperation and facilities to film producers interested in shooting films in locales in the state.
The Chief Minister also stated that action had already been initiated to establish two film cities in the state. One film city will be established on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway and the other will be developed on the Trans-Ganga Hitech City project in Unnao. Through these film cities to be built at a cost of Rs. 650 crore, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav said modern technology would be available for film making and employment will be generated for more than 9,000 people.
During his talks with the Chief Minister Mr. Mahesh Bhatt also informed that shoot of his next film will be done at Varanasi and added that while initially he had zeroed in on Kolkata as the location, but impressed with the facilities and immense opportunities for film production in UP, he had changed his mind in favour of Uttar Pradesh. Now, the shooting of this film will be done in Varanasi. This will also be a women-oriented film.
