Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has directed officials to review every month the progress in the work that is underway to ensure 16 hour power supply to rural areas and 22 hour electricity supply to urban areas by October 2016, and act accordingly to ensure meeting of timelines.
He further said that work should be taken up expeditiously on separation of feeders for agriculture use and action should be initiated to ensure release of requisite funds from the union government. The Chief Minister was today reviewing functioning of the power department. Referring to his meeting earlier this month with the Union Minister of state for power Mr. Piyush Goel in New Delhi, the Chief Minister said he deliberated with the Union Minister on many outstanding issues.
Mr. Yadav said the Union Minister has assured him of full cooperation. The Chief Minister also directed officials to promptly complete all necessary work with regards to this that the state government has to do and asked officials to ensure that power supply is on as per the roaster, specially keeping in view the harsh winter chill. The CM also sought prioritization of rectification of local faults due to the inclement weather and said that 10 hour power supply should be ensured in areas where sowing of potatoes is done.
He said that the State Government was working with all seriousness to ensure 16 hour power supply in rural areas and 22 hours in urban areas by 2016. He also directed the Chief Secretary to do a monthly review and brief him about the process made in this direction. The Chief Minister also said that work was on to separate agriculture feeders so that proper power supply is ensured for rural areas and for agriculture purposes.
Reviewing rural electrification the Chief Minister said monthly review of timelines should be done so that electrification of 1.72 lakh Majra’s is completed by October 2016.
