An action plan to smoothen traffic system of the city sought
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has issued instructions for immediate streamlining of the traffic system in the state capital. He directed the Divisional Commissioner of Lucknow to identify within a week a new ‘dharna sthal’ and present an action plan to smoothen traffic in the city.
Mr. Yadav further said that being the state capital, various organizations stage sit-in’s and demonstrations in the city. Adding that while such peaceful events are part and parcel of a democratic process, the Chief Minister said adequate arrangements should be made to ensure that they do not cause inconvenience to the common people.
Owing to processions and demonstrations, traffic is disrupted and snarl ups cause great difficulties to commuters, the Chief Minister pointed out while saying that it was for this reason necessary that an alternate ‘dharna sthal’ be identified. Instructing the Divisional Commissioner of Lucknow to prepare an action plan for traffic with special emphasis on identifying roads that can be widened, traffic diversions and one way roads.
