Forest Corporation to commence bonfires from January 15 Bonfires will be lit up at 58 places in 30 districts
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has directed the Forest Corporation to make arrangements for bonfires in various districts. Giving this information, a State Government spokesman said this facility will be in addition to the relief work being undertaken by the Relief Commissioners office.
The facility of bonfires by the Forest Corporation would begin from January 15, 2015 and continue till the cold wave continues. According to the spokesman, the facility would be available at 58 places in 30 districtsSaharanpur, Moradabad, Rampur, Bijnore, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Agra, Etawah, Mainpuri, Kannauj, Etah, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Kanpur, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Sultanpur, Bahraich, Faizabad, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Basti, Varanasi, Allahabad, Mirzapur, Jaunpur, Jhansi and Chitrakoot.
The regional purchase manager/officer of the Corporation would be responsible for arrangement of these bonfires. The spokesman said that bonfires would be lit between 8:00 pm to 6:00 am every day in presence of forest corporation staff. 0.5 quintals of wood will be provided for use at bonfires at every point. The day this facility will be discontinued, the concerned departmental purchase officer/manager would inform the General Manager (Marketing) or Marketing officer at the Forest Corporation headquarter in written through fax/e-mail and on their mobile number.
The selection of the point where the bonfires would be lit would be done by the purchase manager in consultation with the sub-divisional magistrate. Beginning of the bonfire lighting and its closure will have to be informed to the Forest Corporation Head Quarter.
