Instructions issued to launch a drive against illicit liquor and those involved in it

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has taken a grim view of the spurious liquor incident and has immediately reviewed the incident. In the review meeting, senior officers of the concerning department were present. During the highlevel meeting, instructions were issued to suspend concerning SDM, Assistant Excise Commissioner (Enforcement), District Excise Officer, CO, SHO and Excise Inspector immediately.
Expressing his sympathies to those who died in the incident, the chief minister announced financial assistance of Rs. two-lakh each to the next of kin who lost their lives in the tragedy. Mr. Yadav also ordered departmental action against the joint excise commissioner and sought an explanation from the Excise Commissioner. Issuing instructions to ensure prompt and proper treatment to the ill, the chief minister has also ordered free treatment to those taken ill in the incident.
The chief minister further said that the guilty will not be spared and strict action will be taken against them and assured that there would be no laxity in the matter. Mr. Yadav also ordered an immediate crackdown on those involved in the illicit liquor trade and asked the police to cooperate in this drive.
Mr. Yadav said during the drive maximum raids be conducted and people involved in illicit liquor trade must be arrested. He also asked officers to ensure an end to inter-state liquor smuggling and a parallel drive to nab all those involved in making fake holograms.
