Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has congratulated Mr. Kailash Satyarthi on being given the Nobel Peace prize. He also extended his greetings to Ms. Malala Yusufzai for getting the Nobel Peace prize. In a congratulatory message today, Mr. Yadav said that Mr. Satyarthi through the ‘Bachpan Bachao Andolan’ has made a significant contribution for the protection of children’s rights.
The C.M. added that the commitment of Mr. Satyarthi in protecting the children rights and implementing them was indeed one that needed to be emulated. The CM also said that Mr. Satyarthi has done inspiring work against exploitation of children.
Lauding Ms. Malala Yusufzai, Mr. Yadav pointed out that she did not bow down to the pressures of the terrorists and continued to work for girl education. Respecting her bravery, the United Nations last year had taken a decision to observe Malala’s birthday on July 12 as ‘Malala Day’.
The C.M. added that Uttar Pradesh was the only state in the country where the government undertook a statewide drive to encourage girl education and ensure their safety. It may be pointed out here that the Nobel Committee in Norway has announced the Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2014 will be shared jointly by Mr. Kailash Satyarthi and Ms. Malala Yusufzai.
