Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav today reviewed the law and order situation in the state and said that people out to spread chaos in the society should be dealt with an iron hand. He also instructed officers to take strict action against such people after identifying them.
Adding that he had already issued instruction to crack down on mischief makers and anti-social elements, Mr. Yadav underlined that maintaining law and order was a top priority of his government and that it was something on which the government cannot compromise. The state government, he added, was not only committed to safety and security of citizens, maintenance of law and order but also to all-round and comprehensive development of the state.
The state government has already issued instructions to senior police officers that maintaining law and order and peace was their duty and that they should take stern and necessary action at their end to ensure the same.
He further added that maintaining law and order in a district is the prime responsibility of the district magistrate and the district police chief and warned that anyone found wanting in his or her duties will be acted upon sternly.
The Chief Minister further stated that by being the most populous state of the country, Uttar Pradesh was politically very significant and hence people from all over follow incidents in the state. Mr. Yadav also said that realizing the crucial role of police in maintaining a good image of the state, the government was making sustained efforts to provide the police force with the best of resources.
