Chief Minister writes Prime Minister for a new air service between Andaman Nicobar and Babatpur (Varanasi)
Request also made for stopover of Kolkata-Delhi flight at Varanasi airport and facilities for passenger
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has requested Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for start of a new air service from Andaman Nicobar to Babatpur (Varanasi) and for stopover of the flight between Kolkata-Delhi at Varanasi and facility for passengers to take this flight.
He also said that this decision would be of great help to residents of Uttar Pradesh living in Andaman Nicobar/tourists and passengers between Kolkata and Varanasi. The Chief Minister has written a letter to the Prime Minister with regards to this.
Attaching a letter of Samajwadi Party (SP) General Secretary of Andaman Nicobar islands Mr. SP Shukla, the Chief Minister referred to the fact that over 35,000 people living there, have families with a UP connect. Owing to no direct flight between the two destinations, they are put to great inconvenience, the Chief Minister further pointed out.
Varanasi is a major international draw for tourists where both domestic and global tourists come. Mr. Yadav further wrote in the letter that the beginning of the air service would benefit the tourists and residents. In the same way, the stopover of the Kolkata-Delhi flight at Varanasi would be of great benefit for tourists/residents.
