e-Payment system will replace payments by cheques

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has issued instructions to ensure all government transactions go paperless and has said that all such departments that have not adhered to this system should, in a stipulated time frame, go in for e-payment facility.

Providing this information, a government spokesman today said that following instructions from the Chief Minister, the finance department has already initiated necessary steps in this direction. All departments are also expected to submit to the finance department, clear cut proposals aimed at promptly ending payments by cheques.

The spokesman also said that a proposal by the food and civil supply department, with regards to e-payment system has already been provided but the department has been asked to consult the Accountant General to end the cheque system and deliberate on the alternate system and send the proposal to the finance department.

The spokesman also pointed out that the director of Treasury has also been asked to submit clear cut proposal with regards to Cash Credit Limits (CCL) and Deposit Credit Limits (DCL). With this, instructions for updated proposal for implementation of PLA through e-payment system to the treasury, has also been sought.
