A delegation of doctors from Myanmar today called on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav at his official 5, Kalidas Marg residence.
The delegation from the Yangon General Hospital is on a four day trip to the Sanjay Gandhi post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in Lucknow.
Welcoming the medical professionals, the Chief Minister said this trip would further strengthen the long-standing friendly ties between India and Myanmar. He also pointed out such events help in exchange of ideas on various levels including the use of modern technology in healthcare. He also hoped that during their stay at the SGPGI, the doctors from Myanmar would have enriched themselves with the work undertaken by doctors here.
Mr. Yadav also gifted the visiting delegation a book on Taj Mahal and statue of Lord Buddha. The delegation from Myanmar was led by the Deputy Medical Superintendent of the Yangon General Hospital Dr. Myint Myint Aye, Senior Consultant (Radiology) Dr. Aung Cho Tum, and Senior Consultant (Neurophysician) Dr. San Oo, Emergency Physician (Surgeon) Dr. Win Kyaw and Radiation Therapy Technologist Mr. Daw Aye Aye Thin.
The first secretary at the Indian embassy in Myanmar (Development Cooperation) Dr. Neel Jain was also part of the delegation. Director of SGPGI, Prof. RK Sharma informed that SGPGI was a premier medical institute in south-east Asia and the Myanmar delegation hence chose the institute for their visit. The 125-year-old Yangon General Hospital took stock of various aspects at the SGPGI, including maintenance, the hospital information system, administration and various technology advances in the hospital
The delegation would be visiting the school of telemedicine. Members of the delegation are studying linear accelerators at the radio-therapy department and advanced ICU management. Also present on the occasion were Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Rakesh Garg, Principal Secretary (Information) Mr. Navneet Sehgal, head of the Bio-Statistics and Health Infomatics Department Prof. CM Pandey.
